Bio

As a child, Ilhan Omar migrated as a refugee from Somalia. She earned an undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University and studied as a Policy Fellow at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. She has made history as the first Somali-born American to serve in the United States Congress, the first woman of color to serve as a representative for Minnesota, as well as one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress.
